Arcfox prices 2027 Alpha S5 from roughly $18,100 with LiDAR on every trim

Arcfox has opened the order books for its updated Alpha S5 sedan in China, and the headline is simple: LiDAR is no longer an extra. Pre-sales for the 2027 model start at 121,800 yuan (about $18,130) and run to 144,800 yuan for the range-topping version.

The brand sits under Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC), and it is clearly betting that a sensor-heavy package at a mainstream price can carve out space in China’s packed electric sedan market.

Three trims, one hardware philosophy

Arcfox is offering the car in three battery-electric configurations during pre-sales:

  • 650 Plus LiDAR: 121,800 yuan ($18,130)
  • 650 Max LiDAR: 131,800 yuan
  • 750 Max LiDAR Shenxing: 144,800 yuan

Every one of them carries a 192-channel LiDAR up front, working alongside three millimeter-wave radars, twelve ultrasonic sensors and seven high-definition cameras. The stack feeds BAIC’s Yuanjing assistance system, built on an end-to-end 4.0 AI model that handles both city and highway navigation assist, automatic emergency steering and multi-level memory parking.

Key Specs: 192-channel LiDAR standard · 650 km or 750 km CLTC range · 227 kW (304 hp) single rear motor · 5C charging, 30–80% in 8.9 minutes · From 121,800 yuan

What changes under the skin

Power comes from a single rear-mounted motor rated at 227 kW (304 hp), good for a 0–100 km/h run of 6.5 seconds. That is a step up from the current single-motor cars, which top out at 185 kW or 200 kW.

CATL supplies the batteries across the range, and the pack supports 5C ultra-fast charging. Arcfox quotes 8.9 minutes from 30% to 80%, or 560 km of added range in a quarter of an hour. There is also a 148-liter frunk this time around.

Dimensions are carried over from the car that went on sale in March: 4,886 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,480 mm tall, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase. The slippery shape pays off with a drag coefficient of 0.1925.

The cabin runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8775A chip, which combines cockpit and driver-assistance duties. A 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 68-inch augmented reality head-up display anchor the interior, and the infotainment pulls in Alibaba’s Qwen and ByteDance’s Doubao language models. Chassis hardware includes FSD variable-damping dampers and four-piston calipers; Arcfox claims a 100 km/h stop in 33.5 meters and an 82.8 km/h moose test result.

Customers who order during pre-sales get perks worth 18,800 yuan, among them special paint, a lifetime warranty on the battery, motor and power electronics, and a charging pile voucher.

The fight it walks into

Arcfox calls the Alpha S5 an “AI high-performance wide-body sports sedan,” and the framing matters. This price bracket is one of the most crowded in China, with the Xpeng Mona M03 and Leapmotor B01 already jostling for the same buyers.

No official launch date has been given yet. Worth keeping in mind: the Alpha T7 SUV landed in September at 5,000 yuan below its pre-sales figure, so the final number here could still move. Arcfox has only published pre-sales pricing for the battery-electric versions and has not said whether the extended-range variants will be updated at the same time.
