Tesla Revives $50,000 Roadster Deposits Weeks Before Its Big Reveal

Tesla is once again asking customers to put down a $50,000 deposit to hold a spot for its next-generation Roadster. The reservation page returned this week, roughly two weeks ahead of a planned October 1 unveiling set to take place near Waco, Texas.

This marks the second time the company has collected that sum for the model. Buyers who paid during the first round are still waiting for their cars, close to nine years after putting money down.

With the debut still days away, Tesla is taking sizable commitments from customers before the vehicle has been shown in full.
