Tesla Cybercab Spotted in California With a Bolted-On Cybertruck Steering Wheel

A Tesla Cybercab test vehicle was recently photographed while parked on a public street in Berkeley, California, offering a rare glimpse into how the automaker is handling steering on a platform originally intended to operate without any driver controls.

According to images obtained by Electrek from reader Adam Machacek, the two-seat robotaxi prototype carries a steering wheel borrowed from the Cybertruck, attached to a steering column that appears to be exposed and mounted in a fairly rudimentary fashion rather than integrated into a finished dashboard.

The setup suggests Tesla may still be relying on temporary hardware for road testing rather than a final production design, though the automaker has not commented on the configuration. The Cybercab is officially envisioned as a fully autonomous vehicle without pedals or a steering wheel, making this sighting a notable departure from that stated goal.
