Tesco Reaches 2,000 Electric Delivery Vans, Doubling Fleet in Under a Year

British supermarket giant Tesco has hit a new milestone in its delivery fleet electrification, putting its 2,000th electric van into service for home grocery deliveries. The company managed to double the size of its electric fleet in less than twelve months, a rapid pace that shows how quickly large retail logistics operations can shift away from diesel.

Electric vans now account for more than 30 per cent of Tesco’s home delivery vehicles. The retailer has committed to fully electrifying its entire delivery fleet by the end of 2030, making the latest deployment a stepping stone rather than an endpoint.

The milestone underlines a broader trend among UK retailers, where battery-powered vans are increasingly chosen for last-mile routes that suit overnight depot charging and short, predictable daily ranges. For Tesco, the focus now shifts to maintaining momentum as it works toward its 2030 target.
