Renault Kangoo E-Tech Upgraded With 52kWh Battery and 354km Range

Renault has given the electric Kangoo a significant hardware refresh, fitting both the panel van and the passenger version with a 52kWh battery that lifts range to a claimed 354km, pending homologation. The update also brings quicker charging, a pair of more powerful motors and a new 10-inch display across the line-up. Pricing is expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
The upgraded nickel manganese cobalt pack replaces the outgoing 45kWh unit and, along with the new drive units, is carried over from the Renault 5 and Renault 4 E-Tech electric cars. That hardware sharing means small-car technology now underpins Renault’s electric light commercial range. Peak DC fast-charging output climbs from 80kW to 100kW, which shortens a 15% to 80% top-up from 40 minutes to 30 minutes and adds up to 240km of range in that window, up from 179km previously.
Buyers can now choose between 100kW and 115kW outputs, replacing the previous single 90kW motor. The more powerful variant also introduces a Perfo mode designed for fully loaded operation. Drivers get four levels of regenerative braking, selectable via steering-wheel paddles, plus vehicle-to-load capability for powering tools on site. The openR link infotainment system switches from TomTom to Here mapping.
Production of the refreshed Kangoo E-Tech remains entirely French. The Maubeuge plant assembles both body styles, Douai supplies the battery, Cléon builds the motors and Le Mans handles the running gear. Renault says the Kangoo Van is France’s best-selling light commercial vehicle in both combustion and electric form, and that the electric version leads its class across Europe.
The move reflects a broader trend among European automakers to spread proven EV components across multiple segments in order to cut costs and speed up model updates. By borrowing batteries and motors already validated in its passenger cars, Renault can refresh its electric vans without developing dedicated hardware, while the charging and range improvements address two of the most common concerns for commercial operators.
The Kangoo E-Tech update arrives as competition in the electric van segment intensifies, with rivals from Stellantis and Ford also pushing refreshed battery-electric commercial vehicles. Renault has not yet disclosed final range figures for individual configurations or confirmed pricing, leaving fleet buyers waiting for the details due in the coming weeks.
