Kia Rolls Out 200 PV5 Electric Vans for Postal Delivery Routes

Kia’s PV5 platform is moving beyond the showroom and into daily service. The automaker has built a purpose-configured version of its electric van specifically for mail delivery work, and this month it begins handing over 200 of these vehicles to post offices.

The rollout represents a practical test of how electric vans hold up under the stop-and-go demands of postal routes, where frequent braking and short hops put different pressures on a battery than long highway drives do. Kia’s decision to tailor the PV5 for this kind of duty shows the company sees commercial fleet use as a natural fit for its electric lineup.

With 200 units entering service, postal operators get a chance to evaluate charging logistics, range in real-world conditions, and overall running costs compared with conventional delivery vehicles. If the trial performs well, it could open the door to larger fleet orders down the line.

For now, the focus is on getting the vans onto routes and gathering data. Kia has not shared further details on the program’s duration or expansion plans.
