Honda's Mobile Power Pack e: Wins Battery Show 2026 Sustainability Award as Swappable Standard Opens to US Manufacturers

Honda has received the Sustainability & Circular Economy Excellence Award at The Battery Show 2026 for its Mobile Power Pack e: (MPP), a portable swappable battery that the company is now opening up for business-to-business integration by other manufacturers in the United States. The award recognizes Honda’s efforts to create a standardized, zero-emissions energy solution that can be shared across a wide range of mobility and power equipment products.

The MPP was engineered to address three persistent obstacles facing electric mobility products: lengthy charging times, limited range, and the high cost of batteries. By allowing users to quickly exchange a depleted unit for a fully charged one, the system keeps equipment operating without the downtime associated with recharging. Honda’s decision to make the pack available to outside companies is a strategic move to achieve scale, as the value of a swappable battery standard increases with the number of products that adopt it.

Joe Juliano, Business Unit Lead of Sustainability and Business Development at American Honda, commented on the recognition, stating that the award helps validate Honda’s work to make the Mobile Power Pack e: available to other mobility products across the mobile energy segment in North America. He added that the MPP provides a standardized zero-emissions energy solution capable of reliably powering a variety of equipment without downtime.

The initiative aligns with Honda’s broader push to electrify its powersports and power equipment ranges while also increasing hybrid vehicle sales. However, the company has not disclosed when US sales to manufacturers commenced or identified any specific partners. Questions remain about which companies will adopt the standard and how quickly the ecosystem can grow, but the award provides Honda with a platform to attract potential collaborators. Honda also noted that long-term virtual power purchase agreements for wind and solar cover more than 80% of the power it uses in North America, underscoring its commitment to sustainability.
