Corvette-Powered 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS Hits the Auction Block

Long before high-performance SUVs leaned on turbochargers and configurable drive modes, Chevrolet took a blunt approach: drop a Corvette-derived V8 into a midsize family hauler, stiffen the chassis, and bolt on an SS badge. A first-year 2006 TrailBlazer SS now up for auction represents exactly that philosophy, pairing five-seat practicality with serious muscle.
Factory documents accompanying the truck show the B4U package added far more than cosmetics. Buyers got a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 rated at 395 horsepower and 400 lb-ft, backed by a heavy-duty four-speed automatic, permanent performance all-wheel drive, and a 9.5-inch limited-slip rear end with 4.10 gears. A road-course-tuned suspension and 20-inch polished wheels completed the package. Chevrolet marketed it as the brand’s first Super Sport SUV.
The seller acquired this example in 2008 with roughly 3,000 miles showing and has stored it under cover ever since. It now reads 55,500 miles and has seen only occasional short drives since 2024. Original paperwork lists Black over Ebony and a $38,310 sticker when new, and the VIN matches across the door label and invoice. Photos reveal an honest, largely stock machine rather than a flawless show piece — expect stone chips on the lower front bumper and some finish wear on the wheels. Inside, heated leather-and-suede SS seats, dual-zone climate control, a power sunroof, and a Bose six-disc system headline the equipment list.
Mechanically the LS2 looks untouched down to its factory engine cover, and the seller reports it is ready to drive. No recent service records or driving footage were provided, so interested bidders should ask about maintenance, the automatic transmission, all-wheel-drive system, and rear air suspension before committing. Sitting between everyday usability and modern collector interest, this one invites a simple question: drive it or preserve it?
