A 1975 Cadillac Fleetwood Hearse That's Dying to Be Driven Home

October has a way of making certain vehicles suddenly look a lot more appealing, and few machines capture that seasonal mood quite like a vintage hearse. Case in point: a 1975 Cadillac Fleetwood funeral coach currently listed for sale in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with an asking price of $4,500.
The coachwork was handled by Miller-Meteor, a name that spent decades converting Cadillac chassis into hearses, ambulances and limousines. This example looks like it left active service some time ago. The body shows its share of rough patches and the roof has clearly seen better days, but the exterior is largely intact, and the seller still has the fender skirts and wheel covers set aside. A little sheet metal work and a respray would go a long way.
Under the hood sits the big 500-cubic-inch V8 that came standard in the ‘75 Fleetwood. It fires up only intermittently, and the seller admits that more people have leaned over the engine trying to sort out the carburetor than have ever ridden in the back. That tuning headache is the stated reason for the sale. The odometer reads 77,000 miles, which is modest for a vehicle now half a century old.
The cabin is neither terrible nor great. The front seats and dash could use attention, and the rear compartment has quietly become a storage area, though the headliner has held up surprisingly well and the casket rollers are part of the deal. Buyers for something like this are a small group, but anyone after an oversized oddity with genuine presence, or a promotional prop with real character, may find plenty to like here.
