China's Auto Exports Surpass Last Year's Total With Months To Spare

China’s vehicle exports have already eclipsed the full-year total from 2022, with several months still remaining on the calendar. According to InsideEVs, the surge is largely fueled by rising global demand for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids built by Chinese automakers.

The export momentum stands in contrast to the domestic market, where sales have been contracting. That gap suggests Chinese manufacturers are increasingly looking abroad to sustain growth as home demand cools.

While the headline figure is striking, the underlying drivers — competitive pricing, expanding EV lineups, and strong appetite in overseas markets — point to a structural shift rather than a one-off spike.
