BYD Opens Blind Reservations for Bigger, Faster-Charging Seal 07 Sedan

BYD Opens Blind Reservations for Bigger, Faster-Charging Seal 07 Sedan

BYD has started taking reservations for the second-generation Seal 07, and the headline claim is charging speed. The automaker is billing the new sedan’s flash charging as “ready in 5 minutes, full in 9 minutes” — a pitch that leans hard on its second-generation Blade Battery.

Zhang Zhuo, who runs sales for BYD’s Ocean lineup, confirmed the opening on Weibo. No prices were given. That makes this a blind reservation, the now-familiar Chinese practice where buyers put down a deposit before the sticker is known.

Key Specs: 5,080 mm long · 2,960 mm wheelbase · 245 kW / 300 kW BEV motor options · 38.029 kWh PHEV battery · 245 km WLTC electric range (DM-i) · 618 L trunk + 160 L frunk

What reservation holders actually get

Putting money down buys a place near the front of the queue rather than a locked-in car. Deposits can be refunded in full until orders are finalized, and buyers can still swap paint and equipment after the launch. BYD is also throwing in gifts for people who reserve and then take delivery.

  • Priority build slot: reservation holders get early production and delivery
  • Config flexibility: colors and trims stay changeable until order lock
  • Refundable deposit: no penalty for walking away before lock-in

The car itself is a meaningful step up in size. At 5,080 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and 1,495 mm tall, the new Seal 07 stretches 85 mm beyond the Seal 07 EV that arrived in March, with the wheelbase up 60 mm to 2,960 mm. It follows the Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design language and shares its look with the Seal 08. Six exterior colors and three cabin themes are on the menu.

Chassis, cabin and the Lidar question

Underneath, BYD fits the DiSus-M magnetorheological body control system, front double-wishbone suspension and a reinforced five-link rear setup. The Smart Ecosystem 2.0 software suite is part of the package too.

Inside, front occupants get zero-gravity seats with massage, ventilation and heating, plus a 20-speaker Devialet audio system. Cargo space comes to 618 liters in the trunk and 160 liters up front.

The pictured car carries a roof-mounted Lidar, but BYD hasn’t yet explained what driver-assistance features it enables or how equipment will split across trims.

Two powertrains, one reservation page

MIIT filings show the battery-electric Seal 07 with peak motor outputs of 245 kW (329 hp) and 300 kW — both above the 240 kW figure of the March-launched car. A plug-in hybrid also appears in those filings, keeping the Seal 07 DM-i badge and pairing a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a 160 kW motor and a 38.029 kWh pack. Its WLTC electric range is listed at 245 km (152 miles). The reservation poster says nothing about the DM-i version.

For context on pricing, the Seal 07 EV that went on sale March 5 came in two trims at 169,900 yuan ($25,300) and 189,900 yuan.

The timing matters. Seal-series volume is sliding — 46,718 units in September, down 9.04% year-on-year and 1.57% month-on-month, with the first nine months of 2026 totalling 304,723 vehicles, a 14.11% drop. A larger, quicker-charging flagship sedan is BYD’s answer to that trend.
