BYD Debuts Long-Range Electric Semi With Megawatt Charging at IAA 2026

BYD used its appearance at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover to pull the wraps off its broadest electric commercial lineup to date. The headliner is the ETT 44, a heavy-duty tractor unit that the company says can travel up to 600 km on a charge and accept power at rates as high as 1.5 megawatts.

With the ETT 44, the automaker is making its most direct play yet for Europe’s heavy freight segment, translating the rapid-charging messaging it has pushed on its passenger cars into the commercial trucking arena.

The debut signals that the Chinese manufacturer sees long-haul trucking as a key battleground as European fleets come under growing pressure to cut emissions.
