Xpeng Launches Mona L05 Pre-Sales as It Chases a 60,000-Unit Q4

Xpeng has begun taking pre-orders in China for the Mona L05, a five-seat mid-size SUV that slots above the compact Mona L03 and gives the brand a fresh volume contender heading into the final quarter of the year. Pre-sale pricing runs from 169,800 yuan (about $25,250) to 191,800 yuan across five variants, with the formal market launch set for October 29. Reservation holders who put down a 1,000 yuan deposit are being offered a 3,000 yuan credit against the purchase price, and display cars are already reaching showrooms nationwide.
The lineup splits between purely electric and range-extended powertrains. Three BEV versions — the 535 Max, 635 Max and 635 Ultra SE — are priced at 169,800, 179,800 and 191,800 yuan respectively. The 535 Max carries a 58.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack rated for 535 km of CLTC range, while both 635 trims step up to a 71.1 kWh battery good for 635 km. On the EREV side, the 1310 Max and 1310 Ultra SE are listed at 169,800 and 181,800 yuan, pairing a 1.5-liter range extender with a 37.2 kWh battery for 310 km of electric-only CLTC range and a combined 1,310 km with a full charge and tank. Every version uses a single rear-mounted motor producing 183 kW (245 hp) and comes with adaptive dampers as standard.
The biggest differentiator between trims lies in driver assistance. Max variants run a single in-house Turing AI chip rated at 750 TOPS of effective compute and support the second-generation VLA Lite model, while Ultra SE versions double up on Turing chips for 1,500 TOPS and the full VLA system. Inside, all cars share a 17.3-inch central touchscreen and a 26.8-inch head-up display, with Xpeng also highlighting a rear entertainment screen and a zero-gravity front passenger seat.
Dimensionally, the Mona L05 measures 4,870 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and 1,636 mm tall on a 2,940 mm wheelbase — 220 mm longer than the Mona L03, with a 90 mm stretch between the axles. The Mona family has now grown to three models and has delivered more than 350,000 vehicles in the two years since its introduction, giving Xpeng a platform to push for higher volumes.
The timing matters for Xpeng’s sales ambitions. September deliveries reached 41,256 units, the company’s best month of 2026 and a 5.50% gain on August, though still marginally below the same month last year. The first nine months of 2026 totaled 284,367 vehicles, down 9.20% year-on-year, even as third-quarter volume hit a record 118,390 units. Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng has said the company is targeting more than 60,000 monthly sales in the fourth quarter as new products including the G9L and Mona L05 reach customers, making the L05’s launch cadence a key signal for whether that goal is realistic.
