VW and Xpeng's Second Joint Car Lands: ID. UNYX 09 Sedan Starts at 169,900 Yuan

Volkswagen’s collaboration with Xpeng has produced its first sedan. The ID. UNYX 09 went on sale in China on October 24, 2026, with a promotional entry price of 169,900 yuan ($25,290) — Volkswagen Anhui’s latest attempt to win back ground in the country’s crowded electric sedan segment.
The car is the second product to come out of the two companies’ partnership, following the ID. UNYX 08 SUV. That deal traces back to July 2023, when Volkswagen put $700 million into Xpeng and agreed to build two VW-badged models on Xpeng’s platform and software.
Three Trims, One Battery
The UNYX 09 is offered in three versions — Ultra, a fully loaded variant, and Max. Official list prices sit at 179,900, 219,900 and 249,900 yuan. The 169,900 yuan figure is a Double 11 promotion limited to 500 black Ultra cars, and it applies only to buyers who put down a deposit between October 24 and November 30.
Key Specs: ~92 kWh CATL battery · 5C fast-charging cells · up to 755 km CLTC range · 230 kW rear motor (308 hp) · 250 km added in 5 minutes of charging
Entry pricing has come down 20,000 yuan from the 199,900 yuan announced when pre-sales opened on September 24. The top trim’s price hasn’t moved.
What the Numbers Look Like
- Single-motor RWD: Ultra and the fully equipped version, 230 kW peak output, 755 km CLTC range
- Dual-motor AWD: Max trim, 140 kW front plus 230 kW rear, 705 km CLTC range
- Size: 5,081 mm long, 3,030 mm wheelbase, fastback roofline
- Charging: 5C cells supplied by CATL across the range
On the tech side, every UNYX 09 ships with Xpeng’s Turing AI chip, rated at 750 TOPS, running a driver-assistance stack built on a Vision-Language-Action large model. Highway and urban NOA are both supported, along with parking-space-to-parking-space assistance. The parking suite covers exit-then-park, remote parking and reverse-path functions.
There’s an 85-inch AR head-up display and a 15.6-inch central screen as standard. Buyers stepping up to the fully equipped or Max trims also get dual-chamber air suspension and DCC variable damping.
The UNYX 09 slots into China’s large electric sedan class, a segment where domestic brands have been setting the pace and where legacy German marques have struggled to hold price. Volkswagen’s answer here leans on local engineering — Xpeng’s platform and software — and a sticker that undercuts what the brand’s own badge might once have commanded.
VW is clearly pushing on price across its Anhui lineup. Just a week earlier, the ID. UNYX 07 dropped to 99,900 yuan, the first time a fully electric Volkswagen has been priced below 100,000 yuan in China. Whether the sedan can translate that aggression into volume is the question the next few months will answer.
