Volkswagen Dealers Top Pied Piper Service Scheduling Study

Volkswagen Dealers Top Pied Piper Service Scheduling Study

Volkswagen dealerships earned the highest marks for service scheduling in Pied Piper’s latest annual study, outperforming rival franchised networks. The research also placed Volvo, Acura, BMW, Mazda and Nissan among the stronger performers, showing that several brands have made meaningful gains in how they handle service appointments.

A less encouraging finding for franchised retailers: independent aftermarket shops scored better than dealerships when customers book service over the phone. That gap suggests dealers still face friction in a channel many owners rely on, even as digital booking tools spread across the industry.

The study underscores how service scheduling has become a competitive battleground. With fixed operations contributing heavily to dealership profitability, how smoothly a customer can secure an appointment can shape loyalty and repeat business.

Pied Piper’s rankings are based on mystery-shopping evaluations of how dealerships and independent shops handle service inquiries, making the results a practical benchmark for retailers looking to sharpen their front-end service experience.
