Vinci Leads €90 Million Push to Electrify European Truck Corridors

Vinci Concessions is spearheading a major infrastructure project for heavy-duty electric trucks, committing nearly €90 million alongside partners Épopée Gestion and ADEME Investissement. The initiative focuses on building a fast-charging network specifically designed for commercial vehicles, with approximately 20 sites planned in the initial rollout. Most of these locations will be situated in France, reflecting a strategic effort to support zero-emission freight along key logistics routes.

The first phase aims to establish a reliable backbone for electric truck operators, addressing one of the biggest barriers to adoption: accessible high-power charging. By concentrating on major transport arteries, the project intends to make long-haul electric haulage more viable for fleet managers.

In a subsequent expansion, the network is set to reach Germany and Spain through Voltix, extending the charging corridor across additional European markets. This cross-border approach signals a broader ambition to create a seamless charging experience for electric trucks operating internationally.

The investment highlights growing momentum behind electrifying road freight, a sector that has lagged passenger cars in the transition to cleaner energy. With backing from public and private stakeholders, the project could serve as a template for similar infrastructure rollouts elsewhere in Europe.
