UltraTech Cement to Deploy 600+ Electric Trucks by 2026

UltraTech Cement, the world’s largest cement producer outside China, is stepping up its commitment to green logistics. The company announced it will add more than 600 electric heavy goods vehicles (eHGVs) to its fleet by December 2026, a move aimed at reducing carbon emissions across its supply chain.

This expansion builds on UltraTech’s existing pilot programs that already use electric trucks at its Dhar Cement Works in Madhya Pradesh. The new vehicles will be deployed across various operations, including raw material transport and cement delivery, as part of the company’s broader sustainability goals.

By electrifying a significant portion of its logistics fleet, UltraTech aims to cut diesel consumption and lower operational costs in the long run. The company is also likely to invest in charging infrastructure at its plants and along key routes to support the increased number of electric trucks.

The announcement aligns with India’s push for cleaner transportation and corporate efforts to meet net-zero targets. According to UltraTech, the shift to eHGVs is expected to prevent significant CO2 emissions annually, though specific figures were not disclosed in the initial statement.
