UK-Backed Project Targets Smarter 48V Battery Management for EVs

Eatron Technologies and WMG at the University of Warwick have received UK government support to develop a new battery management system tailored for low-voltage electric applications. Their ZENBMS project, short for Zonal-End Node Battery Management System, focuses on enhancing the performance and reliability of 48-volt setups, which are becoming increasingly common in mild hybrids and other electrified vehicles.

The funding comes from the DRIVE35 Demonstrate competition, which allocated £9 million across ten initiatives to accelerate innovation in vehicle electrification. Eatron and WMG have partnered with Infineon Technologies to bring their expertise in semiconductor solutions to the project, potentially paving the way for more efficient and cost-effective energy management in the next generation of electrified transport.
