Tesla to Bring Megawatt Truck Charging Network to Europe in 2026

Tesla has announced that its high-power charging network for trucks will be introduced in Europe next year, with the first phase covering Germany, France, Benelux, the UK, and Sweden. Dan Priestley, who heads Tesla’s truck programme, confirmed that the initial rollout will include 21 public sites equipped with more than 100 megawatt charging points.

The move marks a significant expansion of Tesla’s charging infrastructure beyond passenger vehicles, targeting the growing demand for electric heavy-duty transport. Megawatt charging is essential for long-haul electric trucks, allowing them to recharge quickly enough to compete with diesel refueling times. By establishing a dedicated public network, Tesla aims to support fleet operators transitioning to electric trucks.

The selected countries represent key logistics corridors in Europe, where electric truck adoption is expected to accelerate. While Tesla’s Semi truck is already in pilot production in the US, this European charging network could pave the way for the vehicle’s eventual launch in the region.

Tesla has not yet specified exact locations or a detailed timeline for the 21 sites, but the plan signals a broader commitment to electrifying freight transport. The network will likely be open to other truck manufacturers, similar to Tesla’s Supercharger network for cars.
