Tesla is stepping up audits of its Chinese supply chain as it prepares to move its Optimus humanoid robot into volume manufacturing, according to a report from CnEVPost. The company is reportedly evaluating suppliers against stricter standards before allowing them to feed parts into the program.

Several Chinese suppliers have already locked in Optimus orders and are expected to begin production shortly after clearing those audits, the report says. That sequencing suggests Tesla wants quality and process controls verified up front rather than after tooling is in place.

Tesla has leaned heavily on China’s supplier base for its automotive operations, and carrying that playbook into robotics could shorten the path from prototype to scale.
