Tesla Rolls Out Model Y Performance in China as Demand for Its Top-Selling SUV Cools

Tesla has introduced a high-performance version of its Model Y in China, aiming to energize interest in its bestselling SUV. The Model Y Performance is now available at a starting price of 369,000 yuan (around $54,450).

Performance-wise, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, and it offers a CLTC-rated range of 659 kilometers. This launch comes as sales of the Model Y have shown signs of weakening in the Chinese market, making the new variant a strategic move to attract buyers seeking more power and driving excitement.

With this addition, Tesla hopes to maintain its stronghold in China’s competitive electric vehicle segment, where local rivals are increasingly offering compelling alternatives.
