Sunwoda Unveils Flash-Charging Battery: 10-97% in Under 10 Minutes at Room Temperature

Chinese battery maker Sunwoda has introduced a new EV battery charging platform that it claims can deliver roughly 100 km (about 62 miles) of range for every minute of charging. According to the company, the system can push a battery from 10% to 97% state of charge in less than ten minutes — and it does so at room temperature, without the extreme thermal management that often accompanies ultra-fast charging demonstrations.

That room-temperature detail matters. Many flash-charging breakthroughs rely on pre-conditioning or heated cells to hit their peak rates, which adds complexity and energy overhead to the pack. Sunwoda’s claim suggests the chemistry and cell design can handle very high charge rates in ordinary conditions, a step that could make the technology more practical for everyday vehicles rather than lab showcases.

Sunwoda is the latest entrant in an increasingly crowded flash-charging field, where battery suppliers and automakers are racing to shrink charging times toward the convenience of a conventional fuel stop. The announcement positions the company alongside other Chinese battery giants that have made rapid charging a central selling point for next-generation EVs.

What remains to be seen is how the technology translates from announcement to production. Real-world charging speeds depend on the vehicle’s architecture, the charger’s output and grid conditions, so the headline figures will need independent validation before drivers can expect them at public stations.
