Sunwoda Joins China's Flash-Charging Race With 10%-97% in 9 Minutes

Chinese battery maker Sunwoda has entered the country’s rapidly expanding flash-charging segment, unveiling a battery system it says can go from a 10% state of charge to 97% in roughly nine minutes. At room temperature, the pack reportedly reaches 70% in about five minutes.

The claim places Sunwoda alongside other Chinese suppliers and automakers that have been pushing ever-faster charging as a selling point. The competition has focused on shrinking the time drivers spend plugged in, an effort meant to address one of the most common objections to electric vehicles.

Sunwoda has not disclosed which vehicle models or platforms the system will debut on. The company’s entry adds another name to a field where charging speed is increasingly treated as a headline specification rather than a background detail.
