Stellantis Completes Buyout of SAIPL Plant in India

Stellantis has moved to full ownership of the SAIPL manufacturing facility in India, taking over the remaining stake in the operation. The Thiruvallur plant, which produces Citroën models for the Indian market, is now entirely under the group’s control.

The site currently builds a four-model Citroën lineup with localisation reaching 95 percent, a figure that positions Thiruvallur as a genuine manufacturing hub rather than a simple assembly outpost. That level of domestic sourcing is significant for cost structure and for compliance with local content expectations.

The consolidation simplifies Stellantis’ decision-making in a market where it is still building scale, and it gives the company a freer hand to adjust production as demand evolves.
