Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa Rules Out Splitting European and U.S. Brands

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa has shut down speculation that the automaker could separate its European and American brand portfolios, signaling that the company intends to keep its sprawling, transatlantic structure intact.

The question of whether Stellantis might spin off or otherwise separate its European operations from its U.S. business has circulated as the automaker navigates uneven performance across its key markets. Filosa’s dismissal of the idea suggests management views the integrated structure as central to its strategy rather than a liability to be unwound.

Stellantis was formed through the 2021 merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and France’s PSA Group, bringing together brands such as Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Chrysler and Fiat with Peugeot, Citroen, Opel and others under a single corporate roof. That combination created a company with significant scale but also a complex web of brands and regional priorities.

Keeping Europe and the U.S. together matters because the two regions offer different strengths. European operations give Stellantis a foothold in tighter-emissions markets where smaller and electrified vehicles carry more weight, while North America has long been a profit engine driven by trucks and SUVs. Balancing those dynamics is a core challenge for leadership.

By publicly rejecting a split, Filosa is signaling continuity and stability at a time when global automakers are weighing bold structural moves in response to electrification, software, and shifting trade conditions. For now, Stellantis appears committed to running its European and American brands as parts of one company.
