São Paulo Secures $500M in Loans to Expand Electric Bus Fleet

São Paulo has taken a major step toward electrifying its public transport, securing two international loans totaling nearly $500 million. The funding, which amounts to US$496.6 million, is earmarked for expanding the city’s electric bus fleet, potentially enabling the addition of more than 1,100 new e-buses. The loans, provided by international financial institutions, will support the rollout of zero-emission buses, replacing aging diesel vehicles on key routes.
