ROHM's New 650 V IGBTs Target EV Thermal Management Systems

ROHM has introduced its fourth-generation 650 V IGBTs, designed specifically for automotive applications such as electric compressors and high-voltage heaters used in EV climate control. These components also find use in industrial inverters, showcasing their versatility. The new devices feature a typical collector-emitter saturation voltage of 1.55 V, which helps improve efficiency by reducing conduction losses. Additionally, they offer a short-circuit ruggedness of 7 microseconds at a junction temperature of Tj = 175°C, ensuring reliable operation under fault conditions. This launch underscores ROHM’s commitment to advancing power semiconductor technology for the growing electric vehicle market, particularly in thermal management systems where robust performance is critical.
