Ram 1500 Pickups Recalled: Backup Camera Glitch Affects 239,000 Trucks

FCA US is recalling approximately 239,000 Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a malfunctioning backup camera system. The issue can prevent the rearview image from displaying properly, increasing the risk of a crash or injury while reversing. The recall specifically targets certain model-year Ram 1500 vehicles, and owners will be notified to bring their trucks to dealerships for a free software update or hardware fix.

This action follows a similar recall earlier this year, when the automaker voluntarily recalled over 800,000 vehicles across its Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram brands for a related camera display problem. That earlier campaign covered multiple models and was resolved through dealer-installed remedies.

The current recall is separate from the previous one, though both involve backup camera failures. FCA US says it is committed to addressing the issue promptly and will notify affected owners by mail. In the meantime, drivers are advised to check for any warning messages and to use extra caution when reversing until repairs are completed.
