Qnovo Pil Genomu Uygulamasını AB Pil Pasaportları İçin Test Ediyor

Battery software developer Qnovo has begun piloting a new Battery Genome-based application aimed at evaluating the health and worth of EV batteries that manufacturers have already put on the road.

The core problem the tool addresses is inconsistency: two packs with identical age and mileage can deteriorate at completely different rates depending on how they were driven, the climates they endured, and variations between individual cells. According to Qnovo, the limited data typically accessible in the aftermarket cannot distinguish between these cases, which means used EVs end up being priced on guesswork rather than evidence.

Regulatory pressure adds urgency. The EU’s digital battery passport mandate is set to apply from February 18, 2027, to every EV battery sold in the European market. Qnovo argues that a passport compiled from sparse data may miss hidden flaws or cell-level accelerated aging — and if a battery later fails despite being certified as healthy, the automaker behind that certification faces liability.

Qnovo’s Battery Genome is a database of battery behavior spanning all battery types from major manufacturers, built on billions of real-world charge-discharge cycles. Working alongside automotive OEM partners, Qnovo feeds the battery’s complete electrochemical history inside the vehicle — charging patterns, operating record, environmental exposure and cell-level differences — into the Genome. The application then flags signs of accelerated aging and concealed defects and forecasts how the pack will likely age, delivering a risk-adjusted valuation that includes residual worth. Qnovo is offering the tool to OEMs, fleet operators and insurers as an addition to its existing software suite, which already includes Adaptive Fast Charging and Health and Safety Diagnostics. “Since the Battery Genome runs in the vehicle where the rich data lives, we know with added certainty what the battery is doing and what it is not doing,” said Qnovo CEO Nadim Maluf. “That gives the OEM more insight over what is out in the field and more confidence in every assessment.”
