Pure Lithium's Advanced Anode Battery Surpasses 9,315 Lab Cycles

Pure Lithium has announced that its Advanced Anode lithium metal battery has exceeded 9,315 cycles in laboratory testing, with the cells still running. The company claims negligible capacity loss over the course of the test. This achievement highlights the potential of its anode technology for long-lasting EV batteries.
The cells were subjected to charging and discharging at a 1C rate, meaning a full charge or discharge in one hour, at 100% depth of discharge. This demanding protocol simulates real-world usage patterns more rigorously than shallow cycling. The results suggest that the battery could offer exceptional lifespan for electric vehicles, potentially reducing the need for replacements.
Pure Lithium’s focus on advanced anode materials aims to improve energy density and cycle life compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. The company continues to validate its technology in a lab setting, paving the way for commercialization. Industry observers see such cycle life as a critical metric for EV adoption, as longer-lasting batteries lower total cost of ownership.
