ProLogium kicks off mass fabrication of next-gen solid-state cells in Taiwan

Taiwan-based battery maker ProLogium has moved its third-generation-plus solid-state technology from the lab to the factory floor. The company announced the start of volume manufacturing for its lithium-ceramic cells, a step that marks a significant milestone in the commercialization of solid-state batteries.

The new cells, referred to as Generation 3.5, have received certification from TÜV Rheinland, a well-known German testing and certification body for automotive standards. This validation confirms that the cells deliver a gravimetric energy density of 381 watt-hours per kilogram, a figure that could substantially boost the range of future electric vehicles.

By initiating series production in Taiwan, ProLogium aims to demonstrate that solid-state technology is not just a research curiosity but a viable manufacturing reality. The company’s progress could have broad implications for the EV industry, which eagerly awaits batteries that are safer, lighter, and more energy-dense than traditional lithium-ion packs.
