Ola Electric launches S1Z scooter with indigenously developed LFP cells

Ola Electric has introduced its first electric scooter powered by LFP cells that are both developed and manufactured in-house. The new model, named the S1Z, marks a significant step for the Indian two-wheeler maker as it aims to reduce dependency on imported battery components.

By using its own LFP cell technology, Ola Electric can better control costs and supply chain, which has allowed the company to price the S1Z competitively within the range of conventional petrol scooters. This strategic move is intended to make electric mobility more accessible to a broader Indian audience.

The launch underscores a growing trend among EV manufacturers to localize production of key components and highlights India’s push towards self-reliance in green technology.
