New York City Taps 'it's electric' to Install 700 Kerbside EV Chargers Across All Boroughs

New York City has selected local charging company ‘it’s electric’ to roll out a permanent public EV charging network at street level. The initiative will span all five boroughs, replacing the city’s earlier pilot installations with hundreds of new curbside charging points over the next three years.

The project addresses a persistent challenge for EV owners in dense urban areas: limited access to off-street parking and home charging. By bringing chargers directly to the kerb, the city aims to make EV ownership more practical for residents who rely on street parking.

The new network is expected to improve charging availability across the city, supporting the broader transition to electric mobility.
