Light's Minimalist Phone Now Summons Uber and Lyft Directly

Light, the company behind a handset built around the idea of keeping screen time to a minimum, has rolled out a new Rideshare feature that hooks straight into Uber and Lyft. The tool works on the Light Phone III and the forthcoming Light Flip, letting owners request a pickup without reaching for a full smartphone.

The announcement lands roughly ten years after Light’s original Kickstarter pitch, which framed the device as a handset intended for as little use as possible. Since then, the brand has been steadily layering in practical services while keeping its stripped-back approach intact.

The Rideshare addition suggests Light is betting that some users want essential travel tools without the pull of apps, feeds and notifications. Ride-hailing sits alongside that philosophy as a utility rather than a distraction.
