Lanxess opens German lab to test LFP battery materials in real cells

Lanxess has brought a new battery research facility online at its chemical complex in Krefeld-Uerdingen, Germany. The specialty chemicals group says the lab will allow it to evaluate and optimize its materials designed for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, but with a crucial difference from standard materials testing: the components will be assessed inside actual battery cells. This setup gives the company a more realistic view of how its products perform under real operating conditions, rather than relying only on isolated material analysis.
