Infac Moves DC-DC Conversion Inside the EV Battery Pack

Korean supplier Infac is taking a different approach to one of the electric vehicle’s less glamorous components: the DC-DC converter. Rather than mounting the unit alongside the battery pack, the company has built the conversion hardware directly into the pack itself.

The distinction is subtle but meaningful. Placing the converter within the battery enclosure changes how the surrounding architecture is laid out, freeing space that would otherwise be occupied by an external unit. It also shifts the question of thermal management and packaging into the pack itself.

Infac is answering that design question in hardware rather than concept drawings, signalling that the integration is intended for real vehicle programs. As EV makers chase lighter, more space-efficient platforms, where power electronics live is becoming as important as how they perform.
