India Weighs New Program to Boost Heavy-Duty Electric Truck Adoption

Building on a decade of incentives like FAME and PM E-Drive, the Indian government is exploring a fresh initiative focused on heavy-duty electric vehicles. The proposed plan, reportedly led by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, could potentially support as many as 100,000 such vehicles. This would mark a significant step in electrifying the country’s freight and commercial transport sector, which has largely been dominated by diesel-powered trucks.
