Hyundai Slashes Up to $7,000 Off IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9 as 2027 Models Loom

Hyundai is rolling out fresh incentives on its two electric SUVs this month, trimming 10% off the sticker price of the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9 as it clears space for the incoming 2027 model year. Depending on trim and configuration, buyers can pocket as much as $7,000 in combined savings.

The move follows a strong stretch for the Korean automaker, which is chasing a sixth consecutive year of record US retail sales and just posted its best third quarter to date. Even as overall US EV demand has cooled since the $7,500 federal tax credit was phased out a year ago, the IONIQ 5 has held its ground as one of the best-selling electric models on the market outside of Tesla’s lineup.

On the compact side, the 2026 IONIQ 5 carries a $3,500 discount, equal to roughly 10% off its starting MSRP near $35,000. Lease shoppers can take the SE Standard Range for $339 a month over 24 months with $4,999 down, delivering an EPA-estimated 245 miles of range. Choosing the longer-range SE RWD adds only $30 to the monthly payment — $369 with $3,999 at signing — while pushing range up to an estimated 318 miles. For those eyeing the newer model, the 2027 IONIQ 5 arrives with up to $2,750 in total savings and leases from $369 a month. Hyundai is also dangling 0.9% APR financing for up to 60 months on the 2026 IONIQ 5.

Bigger families get the steeper break: the three-row IONIQ 9 is discounted by up to $7,000 off its $58,995 starting price, which works out to more than 10%. Base 2026 IONIQ 9 S RWD leases begin at $419 a month over 36 months with $4,999 down, with an EPA-estimated range of up to 335 miles. Financing on the 2026 IONIQ 9 runs at 1.9% APR for as long as 60 months.

Both electric SUVs roll off the line at Hyundai Motor Group’s Metaplant America near Savannah, Georgia. Conquest data shared during a facility tour last April showed the IONIQ 5 pulling in shoppers from rival brands at a 69.8% rate, with the IONIQ 9 close behind at 64.3% — higher than any of Hyundai’s combustion or hybrid offerings. Still, Hyundai isn’t the only one discounting: sister brand Kia is offering as much as $10,000 off its three-row EV9 this month and has priced its smaller EV3 from about $30,000.
