Honda Super-ONE Lands in Australia as the Brand's First Local EV

Honda has officially entered Australia’s electric vehicle market, and it didn’t settle for something predictable. The Super-ONE is now on sale as the Japanese automaker’s maiden battery-electric offering for local buyers, priced at $36,900 driveaway.
The quirky little hatchback runs on a modest 29.6kWh battery, delivering a WLTP-rated range of up to 202 kilometres. Output sits at 47kW under normal conditions, but a Boost mode temporarily lifts that figure to 70kW, while torque is rated at 162Nm. At 1,093kg, it is a featherweight by modern EV standards, which should make its limited power feel far more lively than the numbers suggest.
Charging is where buyers will need to manage expectations. DC fast charging tops out at 50kW, while three-phase AC charging supports up to 10kW. Cargo capacity measures 162 litres behind the rear seats, expanding to 967 litres when they are folded down.
The central question the Super-ONE raises is simple: with roughly 200 kilometres of range and a price tag nudging $37,000, does this small Honda make a convincing case against a growing field of longer-legged rivals? Honda is clearly betting on character and driving enjoyment rather than raw specs.
