GWM Reaches 4,000th Crash Test, Signaling Safety Lab Maturity

Great Wall Motor has carried out its 4,000th crash test, marking the occasion with its H7 SUV. The milestone points to how far the Chinese automaker’s in-house safety testing operation has come.

The company’s crash facility represents an investment of CN¥510m, while its complement of test dummies alone accounts for CN¥100m. Those figures underline a level of spending on validation infrastructure that, according to the report, now stands alongside what long-established automakers commit to the same discipline.

Building out that capability matters for a manufacturer expanding its line-up and its export reach, since crash performance is a core part of regulatory approval and buyer expectations in every market. Running thousands of physical tests in-house gives GWM more control over development cycles rather than relying on outside facilities.

The 4,000th test, conducted with the H7 SUV, serves as a symbolic checkpoint for a safety programme that has grown in step with the company’s broader ambitions.
