Green SM Brings All-Electric Taxi Fleet to Los Angeles with VinFast Vehicles

Vietnamese ride-hailing company Green SM has rolled into Los Angeles, opening its first North American operation and its ninth market worldwide. The fleet serving LA streets is made up exclusively of VinFast electric vehicles, with the VF 8 crossover handling passenger duty.
Riders in the city have three ways to get a car: booking through the Green SM smartphone app, dialing the company’s hotline, or flagging down a taxi the old-fashioned way on the street. That mix of digital and traditional hailing is intended to meet customers wherever they already are.
Rather than staffing up overnight, Green SM plans to grow its LA operation in phases, bringing on and training local drivers as it expands. The company was established in Vietnam in 2023 and has since expanded to Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Kazakhstan, Denmark and the Netherlands.
“The United States represents an important milestone in Green SM’s growth journey,” said Hoang Thanh Hang, CEO of Green SM in the US. She noted that the company’s international experience has taught it that electrification alone does not define success. Service quality, dependable and well-trained drivers, and genuine care in every customer interaction matter just as much, she said.
By choosing VinFast models for its American debut, Green SM also gives the Vietnamese automaker a visible presence in US streets without a traditional retail rollout. The launch places an all-EV commercial fleet in one of the country’s largest ride-hailing markets, where charging infrastructure and operating costs are constant concerns for fleet operators.
