GM Turns Used Battery Materials Into Power For New Cadillac And Chevy EVs

General Motors has begun feeding recycled battery content into the packs that drive its latest electric models, including future Cadillac and Chevrolet vehicles. The company says leftover material from retired packs is now part of the production flow for new EVs rather than being treated as waste.

Reusing those recovered metals and compounds can shrink the amount of freshly mined material each vehicle requires, which matters as battery demand climbs across the industry. GM has not disclosed exactly how much recycled content goes into a given pack, nor which specific nameplates will get it first.
