Tesla Semi Secures Landmark 2,500-Truck Order Through New ZET SCALE Alliance

Tesla has landed what is being called the biggest single order for electric Class 8 trucks in United States history. The company will supply 2,500 battery-electric Semi trucks as the primary supplier for ZET SCALE, a newly formed shipper alliance focused on zero-emission freight.

The scale of the deal is significant for the US electric heavy-duty market. If delivered as planned, the order alone would nearly double the total number of electric Class 8 trucks currently operating on American roads, according to the alliance.

ZET SCALE is not stopping at 2,500 units. The group says it aims to eventually procure more than 10,000 electric trucks over time, signaling a longer-term commitment to converting freight fleets away from diesel.

The announcement positions Tesla as a central player in the push to electrify long-haul trucking, a segment that has been slower to adopt battery-electric technology than passenger vehicles. Details on delivery timelines and fleet partners have not yet been disclosed.
