GM Builds One Software Interface for Electric, Petrol and Diesel Pickups

General Motors has introduced a unified user interface for its pickup trucks, scheduled to reach the 2027 model year. The company’s approach centers on a single platform that spans electric, petrol and diesel trucks, allowing the same software foundation to serve very different powertrains.

The strategy is less about the screen itself and more about development efficiency. By consolidating the interface across multiple truck lines, GM can roll out updates and features at scale rather than maintaining separate systems for each variant. That matters as modern pickups rely on over-the-air updates and connected services as much as they do on mechanical hardware.
