European Electric Truck Market Faces Intensifying Competition, T&E Study Warns

A new analysis from Transport & Environment (T&E) released ahead of the IAA Transportation show suggests that European truck manufacturers could lose a substantial share of the electric truck market to rivals from China and the US by 2030. According to the report, as much as a quarter of the market may be captured by these new entrants within three years.

The study highlights the growing pressure on established European brands as global competition in the electric commercial vehicle sector heats up. With Chinese and American manufacturers ramping up their electric truck offerings, European producers must accelerate innovation and cost reductions to maintain their position.

T&E’s findings underscore the urgency for EU policymakers and industry players to support the transition to electric trucks, ensuring that Europe remains competitive in the rapidly evolving zero-emission transport landscape.
