Dongfeng Pushes Into Humanoid Robots, Targets Factory Trials This Fall and Human-Level Skills by 2027

Dongfeng is extending its manufacturing ambitions beyond vehicles into humanoid robotics. According to CnEVPost, the Chinese automaker plans to put its humanoid robot to work inside its own plants starting in October, where it will take on sorting and quality inspection tasks.

The company aims to move from in-factory testing to small-batch trial production by the end of this year, a step that would mark a shift from prototyping toward limited real-world deployment.

Looking further ahead, Dongfeng has set a target of achieving human-level capability by the end of 2027. That goal, if reached, would place the automaker among a growing group of industrial players betting on humanoid robots to handle repetitive and precision-dependent work on production lines.

Details remain limited, and it is not yet clear how many units Dongfeng intends to build or which facilities will host the initial rollout. The company has not disclosed pricing, partnerships or the technical specifications of the robot.
