Daimler Buses Unveils eIntouro Electric Bus, Puts OTA Updates at the Forefront

Daimler Buses has taken the wraps off its eIntouro electric bus at the FIAA 2026 show, presenting the vehicle as more than just another battery-powered model in its lineup. The company is emphasizing the bus’s over-the-air update capability, framing it as evidence of a deeper architectural change rather than a simple connectivity add-on.

That distinction matters for the European bus segment, where software-defined vehicle concepts have arrived more slowly than in passenger cars. OTA functionality allows a manufacturer to push fixes and feature improvements remotely, reducing the need for workshop visits and letting a fleet’s capabilities evolve over its service life.

For operators, the pitch is practical: less downtime and a vehicle that can gain improvements without being taken off the road. Daimler Buses is using the FIAA stage to argue that this shift in software architecture is now a core part of what a modern electric bus offers, not a peripheral extra.
