DAF Expands Electric Truck Lineup With XG and XG+ Models, Adding Payload Capacity

DAF has rounded out its battery-electric truck range by introducing the XG and XG+ Electric variants, giving fleet operators a broader set of zero-emission options across its heavy-duty lineup. The two new models sit alongside the previously announced XF Electric and XD Electric, completing what the manufacturer describes as a full electric truck family.

The standout feature is a new battery arrangement that adds roughly 2.5 tonnes of capacity compared with earlier configurations. This is a significant development because payload limitations have long been one of the most persistent criticisms leveled at battery-electric trucks when compared with their diesel counterparts. By reworking how the batteries are packaged, DAF appears to be addressing that drawback directly rather than accepting it as an unavoidable trade-off.
