Chery Reportedly Studies Bringing Omoda and Jaecoo Back Home to China

Chery is reportedly evaluating a plan to introduce two of its overseas-focused nameplates, Omoda and Jaecoo, into the Chinese domestic market as a way to lift its own sales at home, according to a media report.

Under the reported plan, the two brands would be positioned in China’s premium segment rather than as mass-market offerings. Teams handling marketing for the brands are said to be in the process of being assembled, suggesting the idea has moved past the early discussion stage.

Omoda and Jaecoo were originally created for export markets, where they have carried much of Chery’s overseas growth push. Bringing them into China would mark a reversal of that strategy, placing export-oriented products on the same turf as Chery’s established domestic lineup.

The report does not specify a timeline, pricing, or which models would be involved. Chery has not publicly confirmed the plan, so the details remain unverified for now.
