BYD Teases Third-Gen Tang Interior With Two Screens Over 30 Inches

BYD has given the world its first glimpse inside the next-generation Tang, a five-seat electric SUV positioned as the brand’s technology flagship. The cabin was previewed by Lu Tian, who leads BYD’s Dynasty series — the family that also covers the Qin and Han nameplates.

What stands out immediately is the dashboard layout. A pair of oversized displays dominates the front of the cabin: an integrated panel measuring 35.4 inches and a second panoramic screen of roughly 30 inches stretching across nearly the full width of the dash. According to Lu, the design language borrows from the control consoles found in science-fiction aircraft, giving the space a deliberately futuristic character. Buyers will be able to choose between two interior finishes, Dune Beige and Amber Brown.

Comfort and packaging appear central to the pitch. The second row uses zero-gravity captain’s chairs, and BYD says rear passengers get more than 1,000 mm of legroom — an unusual figure for a five-seat layout. The SUV measures 5,045 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,760 mm tall, riding on a 2,950 mm wheelbase.

Underneath, the third-generation Tang debuted at the Chengdu Auto Show in August and carries BYD’s latest Blade Battery 2.0 cells alongside its Flash Charging system, which the company says can move from 10% to 70% charge in as little as five minutes. Two pack sizes are planned: 88.682 kWh and 105.792 kWh, delivering CLTC ranges of 730 km, 830 km and 850 km depending on configuration — roughly 453, 515 and 528 miles. The vehicle also gets BYD’s DiSus-A intelligent body control system with dual-chamber air suspension and the God’s Eye B advanced driver assistance suite.

Pricing remains undisclosed, but the five-seater is expected to slot below the full-size Great Tang, which starts at 239,900 yuan (about $35,500). That larger model has found steady traction, clearing 10,000 units in each of the three months since its mid-June launch. The new Tang is scheduled to reach the market later this year.
